The EEGer neurofeedback software utilizes a USB security dongle in combination with an enabling keyfile to allow a user access to the software. The keyfile (short for EEGer Keyblock (EKB) file), is a small digital file that enables functionality in the software like different features, modes, or feedback displays (games). The keyfile represents the user's license with EEG Software that permits use of the software. To run live sessions with EEGer, an EEGer security dongle must be connected to the computer with a matching keyfile installed onto the computer.

 

To install a keyfile, follow the instructions below:

EEGer4 440s or Later EEGer4 440r or Earlier
  1. Ensure the EEGer computer is connected to the internet.
  2. Ensure that the EEGer security dongle is connected to the computer.
  3. Navigate to Utilities>Get Keyfiles from the top toolbar of EEGer's main screen.
  4. A progress bar will appear as the computer checks for an updated license file. 
  5. Wait until the new file is downloaded and installed - a message will appear when the process is completed.
  6. If a new keyfile was found, EEGer will reload and any changes present on the keyfile will take effect on the system.
  1. Download the latest enabling keyfile received from EEG Store (typically sent by email).
  2. Once the download has completed, locate and double-click the file on the computer.
  3. A confirmation message should appear confirming that the installation was succesful.
  4. If the installation is not succesful, install the key manually from within EEGer:
    4.1. Navigate to Files>Read EEGer keyblock files (.EKB) from the top toolbar of EEGer's main screen.
    4.2. Locate the file on the computer and click Open in the bottom-right of the File Explorer.
    4.3. A confirmation message should appear confirming that the installation was successful.
  5. If the EEGer computer is not connected to the internet, the latest enabling keyfile can be downloaded from a computer that is connected to the internet:
    5.1. Locate an external storage device such as an external hard drive or flash drive and connect it to an internet-connected device.
    5.2. Download the latest enabling keyfile received from EEG Store (typically sent by email).
    5.3. Once the download has completed, locate the file on the computer and move the file to the external storage device.
    5.4. Connect the external storage device to the computer EEGer is installed on.
    5.5. Complete Steps 2-4 above to install the keyfile onto the EEGer computer.
